Underground Sump Cleaning in Delhi NCR
Confined-space trained crew, industrial vacuum extraction and full desludging for kothi and society sumps.
The sump is the dirtiest tank on any Delhi property and the one that gets forgotten, because nobody looks inside it. Every particle in your supply — DJB sediment, tanker grit, monsoon seepage — settles here first, then gets pumped upstairs into tanks you just paid to clean.
The safety part nobody quotes on
A sealed underground chamber with organic sediment becomes oxygen-deficient and produces hydrogen sulphide — a gas heavier than air that pools exactly where a person cleaning would stand, and that deadens your sense of smell within seconds. People die this way in India every year, usually two at a time: one who goes in, and one who goes in to help.
How we do it instead
Mechanically, from outside the opening. The sump is ventilated first, the atmosphere is checked, and vacuum extraction and jetting are done with equipment that reaches in so nobody has to. Where a very large reservoir genuinely requires entry, we run a full confined-space protocol — continuous ventilation, continuous monitoring, harness and retrieval line, and a trained standby who does not enter.
Sump first, always
Overhead tanks refill from the sump. Cleaning them first means you have paid to move silt upstairs. We sequence every job sump first, then tanks — and if a vendor offers to do it the other way round, that tells you something.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Do I need to empty the sump first?
- No, and please do not try. Running a submersible pump dry damages it. We pump out what is recoverable and extract the rest.
- How long does it take?
- Two to four hours for a typical Delhi kothi sump. Society reservoirs take longer and are surveyed first.
- Where does the sludge go?
- Collected and carried away. Flushing extracted silt into the building drain is how blockages start.
