PG & Hostel Water Tank Cleaning in Delhi — An Owner's Guide
High occupancy, high turnover, shared bathrooms. Why PG tanks need a shorter interval than family homes.
A PG with twenty residents draws several times the water of the family home next door through the same size tank. Everything about the tank’s behaviour changes as a result.
Why PG tanks foul faster
- Turnover. The tank refills constantly, so sediment arrives faster and is stirred more often
- Peak demand. Morning use drops the level to the sludge line daily, mixing silt into the outgoing water
- More storage. Higher-capacity or multiple tanks mean more surface for biofilm
- Nobody is watching. Residents are transient and rarely report early symptoms to the owner

The vacation problem
Student properties empty out for weeks at a time. A full tank standing warm and unused through a Delhi May is the single best incubator on the property. Either drain the tanks over long breaks or clean immediately before residents return — the second option is what most owners actually manage.
The business case
PG occupancy in Delhi runs on word of mouth, and water is one of the three things residents complain about publicly. A ₹1,200 quarterly clean against one bad month of vacancy is not a close comparison. Owners who put a small "tanks cleaned quarterly by AAA — ISO 9001:2015" notice in the common area tend to stop getting asked about it entirely.
Scheduling around residents
We work mornings after the peak, or during class hours. A PG overhead tank plus sump is a half-day job, and residents notice only a short gap in supply.
