Almost every quote in Delhi starts with one question: how many litres? Here is what each common size costs and roughly how long it takes.

Why bigger tanks are cheaper per litre
A large part of every job is fixed: travelling to the site, hauling the vacuum unit and hoses up, connecting, disconnecting, disinfecting and packing. That block of time is nearly identical for a 500-litre and a 2,000-litre tank. Only the jetting and extraction time scales with capacity — so the fixed cost gets spread thinner as tanks grow.
This is also why cleaning four small tanks in one building costs less per tank than four separate visits. If your neighbours on the other floors want theirs done the same morning, ask for a combined rate.
How to work out your tank size without a manual
- Sintex and PVC tanks have the litre capacity moulded into the lid rim or a side sticker
- For a rectangular RCC tank: length × width × depth in metres × 1,000 = litres
- For a cylindrical tank: 3.14 × radius² × height in metres × 1,000 = litres

Multiple tanks in one property
Most Delhi kothis run an underground sump plus one or two overhead tanks. Cleaning the overhead tank alone while leaving the sump full of silt is the most common mistake we see — the overhead tank refills from the sump, so it recontaminates within days. Price the pair together and clean them in one visit, sump first.

- Slightly. RCC and stone tanks hold biofilm in surface pores and usually need longer jetting than a smooth Sintex tank of the same size.
- What if my tank is bigger than 5,000 litres?
- Above 5,000 litres we quote after a free survey, because access, sludge depth and whether it can be taken offline all start to matter more than raw capacity.
