Water Tank Cleaning in South Delhi — The Complete Local Guide

South Delhi has the largest domestic water systems in the city and, in our experience, the longest gaps between cleans. Big sumps are out of sight, and out of sight is the whole problem.

The kothi pattern

A typical South Delhi kothi runs a large underground sump — often 5,000 to 10,000 litres — feeding two or more overhead tanks. The sump takes DJB supply when it comes and tanker deliveries when it does not. Owners clean the overhead tanks and almost never open the sump, which by then holds several inches of mixed municipal silt and tanker grit.

Tanker dependence changes everything

Large parts of South Delhi run partly or fully on tanker water in summer. Tanker water carries far more suspended solids than piped supply, and there is no practical way to verify when the tanker itself was last cleaned. Properties taking regular tanker deliveries should be on a four-month interval, and their sumps should be treated as the priority asset.
