The Equipment Used in Professional Water Tank Cleaning
Vacuum units, jetting lances, dosing kit and UV — what each machine does, and how to tell if the crew at your door actually has it.
The gap between a ₹450 clean and a ₹899 clean is almost entirely equipment. Here is what a proper kit contains and what each item is for.
Industrial wet vacuum
Lifts settled sludge, silt and debris out of the tank through the manhole. This is the single most important machine on the job and the one most often absent. Without it, sediment is either left behind or pushed into your outlet plumbing.
High-pressure jetting unit
Around 1500 PSI at the nozzle, with an extension lance for sumps and deep tanks. Pressure — not scrubbing — is what breaks biofilm off the wall. A brush moves biofilm around; a jet removes it.
Mechanised brush head
For RCC, stone and cement tanks whose porous surface holds deposits inside the texture after jetting. Not needed on smooth Sintex.
Dosing and measurement kit
Food-grade disinfectant, measured dosing against calculated tank volume, and where required a chlorine test to confirm residual levels after refill. "A couple of scoops" is not a dose.
UV sterilisation lamp
A final pass on premium and institutional jobs. Useful where water sits for long periods, such as guest houses, seasonal properties and backup reservoirs.

- Forced ventilation blower for sumps and underground reservoirs
- Gas detection before any confined-space approach
- Harness and retrieval line where entry is unavoidable
- Sanitised hoses and heads — equipment that touches your drinking-water tank should be clean
How to check, in ten seconds, at your door
Look at what came off the vehicle. If the crew arrived with a bucket, a rope, a brush and a packet of bleaching powder, you are getting a manual clean regardless of what was quoted. A mechanised crew arrives with a vacuum unit, a pressure machine and hose reels — it is not subtle.
